Mia Marshmallow

You know that Mia is thoroughly enjoying something she is eating when she just hums as she eats. And so it was with these marshmallow sticks at her cousin's birthday party. Of course her dad just had to try to get her to react with no success of course.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Mia is a big fan of The Wizard Of Oz. She got a pop up book for Christmas in 2008 and this past Christmas she got the book and the movie. She loves to act out the story, usually with me (Daddy) as several different characters. Tonight she asked me if I wanted to go to the "top of the rainbow." That really meant she just wanted to explore the closet in my bedroom.

Mia's Summer

Juliet and Mia are now at the town pool. It will be their last visit for the summer of 2009. Mia will start her second year of nursery school in a couple of weeks. Since we moved in the middle of the summer last year Mia didn't have a chance to spend too much time experiencing life in the Albany area. The town pool, which is very nice, was a big destination even though it has been pretty cool for most of the summer. Mia has also come to love the museum in downtown Albany that Grandma Nancy takes her to. Mom brings her to local farmers markets and garage sales. Aunt Diane has paid pretty frequent visits and Mia has loved visiting Diane's kitty cats. Grandma Pat has come up for a couple of visits and also hosted us for a short city vacation recently.

Mia has also come into her own as a big sister. Now that Rosetta is walking and can take part in more things there are a lot more hugs and very cute moments between them. They are partners in crime, sitting side by side now and both facing forward in their car seats. Rosetta even calls for Mia in the morning, shouting up the stairs, "Eeeeya, eeeeya." Its all very cute.

More recently Mia has become acquainted with the Wizard of Oz so she loves playing make believe Wizard of Oz characters. Daddy plays the role of Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion. She may even be Dorothy for Halloween this year.

Summer isn't over just yet. But I think that when it does end Mia will be happy with all the fun things she has done and all of the new experiences she has had in her first full summer in Albany.

Moving On Up

Mia is almost four years old and just before that milestone she had another milestone. Mia finished her first year of school this past week. She did so great this year with a three day a week schedule of half days. I'm sure she'll miss going for a few months since she's met some friends that she has taken a liking to. Here is a short video from the moving up ceremony held in the classroom.

Mia At The Circus

There have been so many firsts for Mia this year. One of the more recent "firsts" is Mia going to her first show, which happened to be Sesame Street Live. Since then she's gone to the Russian Circus and more recently the Ringling Bros. circus. It's really wonderful to see Mia getting into these new experiences. She really enjoyed the big circus last night. Mom treated her to a big colorful bunch of cotton candy too!

Mia Discovers Dollhouse

Mia was the recipient of a great Christmas gift from Santa. This dollhouse is so nice I wouldn't mind moving in. Neither would Mia I suspect.

Mia The Painter

Mia gets into a pretty intense groove when she paints. Here she is painting on her easel in the basement of our new house.
